BASOSTA (PEARLED WHEAT)
Ingredients:
½ Kg pearled wheat, ½ Kg meat,
six table spoons oil and salt.
Preparation:
- Cut meat into big chunks and
boil in large amount of water, add salt and leave to cook.
- When the meat is completely
cooked set it aside and bring the broth back to boil.
- Add the pearled wheat after
washing and the water should be at least 3 inches above it.
- Cover the pan and leave the
pearled wheat to boil over high heat for at least five minutes, turn down the
heat and stir to prevent lumping.
- Leave on low heat until all
water is absorbed.
- Heat the oil and pour over
the fully cooked pearled wheat, top with meat and serve warm.
Optional
Add previously cooked chick pea during cooking.
